Our aim is to honour and preserve the legacy of those affected by the Great Irish Famine.

The Great Irish Famine Commemoration Committee (GIFCC) is interested in capturing the stories of all Earl Grey orphans who arrived between 1848 and 1850.

We regret we are unable to undertake genealogical research but once you have confirmed your connection with a Famine orphan girl, we would love to hear from you and work together to gather more information.

For tips about how to research and write the life story of your Irish Orphan, the work compiled Amanda Midlam is a useful “go-to”.

You can search by name of emigrant girls, ship, place of origin or any other field in the Orphan Database.
