Irish Government Grant

11/10/2020

Earlier this year we applied for a grant through the Irish Government’s Emigrant Support Programme.

In August we were advised that our request was successful. Originally the funds were to be allocated to cover the costs of our Annual Commemoration but due to the necessary scaling back of the event, we were able to obtain approval for alternative projects.

The funds are now allocated to be used in three portions, one being the Commemoration; the second project is to produce an edited compilation of all GIFCC video material produced in the last 25 years; and thirdly, a revised, updated, and possibly digitised reproduction of Dr Trevor McClaughlin’s “Barefoot and Pregnant” with the objective of making this material more accessible to all. With regards to the latter project, we have sought Dr. McClaughlin’s opinion and we are in preliminary discussions with Macquarie University who are extremely enthusiastic about this proposal.

NOTE: We are grateful to the Sydney Irish Consulate for their assistance in our application for the ESP Grant.
