Catherine Duffy, ‘Irish orphan’, admitted to the Adelaide hospital on 13 Oct 1849, aged 17, only three months after her arrival; she had a long criminal record for various misdemeanours, noted in SAA GRG 65/1/1 Adelaide Police Court minute book & registers as well as Adelaide newspapers where she appears over 20 times until 1854 as a prostitute, drunk and general nuisance in the streets of Adelaide; married aged 28 at St Patricks, Adelaide on 11 Feb 1858 to William Weir, aged 50; 1 child; family moved to Toowoomba in late 1864 where William Weir died in Jan 1865; married 2) Patrick James Reid 1865 Qld; one son; Catherine died 1902 and her second husband died in 1891 in Brisbane Hospital.
