- Details
- The only initial clue to Rose Hanlon’s arrival was that at she was noted as arriving on the Inconstant in Adelaide hospital records in 1864 when she was shown as a servant living at Kensington, born in Co. Monaghan; This has now proven to be incorrect as Rose Hanlon arrived on the Constance in Aug 1849, two months after the orphan girl ship, with her brother, sister and extended family, as part of the land clearances from the Shirley Estate in County Monaghan. She later worked as a servant for Dr John Woodforde in Kensington, Adelaide, and then lived in Normanville in the district of Yankalilla, and died Nov 1898. Great work from a kind descendant of this girl in June 2023.
