- PRONI BG/23/G/1 entered workhouse aged 13 on 25 Apl 1847, discharged 12 Jul 1848; mother died when a nurse at Fever Hospital in the workhouse; very few clues on this girl in South Australia; she could be the Sarah Butler who as a single woman was charged with breaking windows in Grenfell Street, Adelaide in 1856. In Mar 1866 a woman by this name was assaulted by Julia Over and in September 1866 a Sarah Butler was charged for assaulting Maria Cooke. In 1884 Sarah Butler & Margaret Jackson were fined for ‘behaving in an insulting manner’. Mention of a missing Sarah Butler in Victoria sounds unlikely to have been her, but all possibilities are open!
