Shipping: house servant, cannot read or write, relations in colony: uncle, Michael Brien; married John Howarth 27 Oct 1851 Wesleyan chapel, Princes St, Sydney; 7 children all born Sydney; at some stage husband left family for Qld; she was in Sydney at least between 1872-82 and then the Hunter Valley, Elizabeth (as Eliza) was in court, gaol & fined for drunkenness, vagrancy and bad language, perhaps as part of her inability to cope without her husband’s support. In Nov 1886 she pleaded in the press for him to answer her letters; she died 1896 registered as Howard; buried Anglican Rookwood.
