- Born c.1828, from Mitchelstown, Co. Cork and probably Fermoy workhouse; was cook at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Watervale; aged 25, married 17 Oct 1855 at St Marks Anglican Church, Penwortham to 37 year old William Haythorpe (b.Norfolk, England 8 May 1808) ex Van Diemen's Land convict, witnesses: Sarah Spratt & Arthur Horrocks, brother of the explorer Charles Ainsworth Horrocks. Arthur lent his signet ring for the occasion as the coach bringing the ring from Adelaide failed to arrive on time. William & Mary lived in a two room farm limestone dwelling at Leasingham; 10 children; William died in 1889, buried at St Marks Church, Penwortham. Family later moved to Mannum where Mary Ann died aged 85 on 7 July 1913; buried Mannum cemetery.
