- Not in SA Registers shipping lists. Alleged Adelaide prostitute CO 13/70; employed as servant by Henry Nootnagel, wine merchant in 1858; went to Victoria in 1859; from 1868-90 she appears frequently in the newspapers for robbery, drunkenness, disorderly behaviour either alone or with others; by at least 1883 she was known as ‘Hallelujah’ and often fined for being drunk, stealing; in Jun 1886, aged 56 destitute she presented herself at the Geelong lockup, threatening to drown herself in the bay; she was charged with vagrancy and locked up; again arrested for vagrancy, as an old woman aged 57, ‘more than half blind’ charged with being idle and disorderly, without shelter and ‘entirely helpless and without friends, she was sent to gaol for a year, the fourth sentence in one year passed by the Geelong bench. She died in Geelong Gaol in 1892.
