shipping: house servant, reads & writes; empl. James York, Spring St., Melbourne £6, 12 months; empl. James York, Spring St., Melbourne £6, 12 months; married William Ware in Oct 1849 at St Peter's, Melbourne [1849/29085]; report in Melbourne Argus, Aug 1864 that she was 'charged with deserting her 3 children who were now with her at the Immigrants home'. She had 6 children and her husband had deserted them; she was discharged and the children restored to her, stating she intended to leave the colony; William was arrested in Sydney in Aug 1864 for deserting his wife and daughters who were actually in the Randwick Asylum: Mary Ann 12 [entered 2 Jan 1865], Elizabeth 7 [entered 2 Jan 1865] & Emily 5 [entered 3 Apr 1865]. They were released from the Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children to their father on 7 Jun 1865 as he was 'returning to Melbourne'; the children had gone to the Randwick Asylum from the Benevolent Asylum because their mother was unable to support them; However it looks like they went to Queensland rather than back to Melbourne as noted in Brisbane Courier, 2 Aug 1865 which showed William Ware of Jane St, Fortitude Valley advertising that his wife Mary Ware had 'left his bed and board without just cause and he would not be responsible for any debts'. Two weeks later, Mary gave birth to a daughter, Martha Alice [aka Ellen, 1865/B/4207]. They had 2 other children in Queensland, the last an unnamed son born 27 Jan 1870 [1870/C/2439 Fitzroy St, Rockhampton] who died the next day; then we loose Mary and William Ware and their family. With thanks to Jeanffrench who posted great material on Ancestry trees which confirmed much of this research.
