Ellen Powell was christened in Scrahane, Killarney, Kerry 1826; her parents were John Powel and Catherine Flynn; no other information was located; it is not known when or how she went to Victoria but she married Richard Burke at St Francis in 1854. Richard had a butcher shop (family folklore was that it was an old tin shed) which they closed and went to the gold fields; 7 children.
