Mary bap 12 Feb 1833 as Honora, daughter of Edmond Hill & Johanna Roche; 2 sisters, 4 brothers; house/garden Griffith Valuation, Kilross RC parish Galbally, Co Tipperary. In Adelaide time in Destitute Asylum from Orphan Depot in 1851, aged 17; to Melbourne on ‘Burra Burra’ 19 Feb 1856 [Adelaide Observor 23 Feb 1856]; X on marriage to Patrick McGrath at St Marys RC Kyneton 1857; Patrick employed by SJ Brown in Melbourne at ₤30 pa; then licensee of ‘Leinster Arms’, Lonsdale St, Melbourne from 1851-53; Inquest held on the body of Margaret McGrath at Black Dog Creek in 1876 by BJ Bartley; she had died suddenly, death being supposed to have been caused by taking arscnic (poison).
