- Dublin North PLU: Ellen Cullen, aged 10, entered with her widowed mother, Jane, 31 Dec 1840. Ellen's brother, Arthur, aged 6 entered 4 Jan 1841. Jane a shoe closer or binder. All in good health although ragged & dirty. Jane’s husband noted as John. The family were in and out of the workhouse at least 7 times until Ellen finally left on 20 July 1849 in time for William & Mary sailing on 25 Jul. In April 1845 when family entered workhouse, register shows they had lived for 8 years at 26 Strand St, N. City & both children born in ‘William’ Street. Jane Cullen, noted is occasionally noted as a widowed confectioner and is in and out in of the workhouse in 1848 by herself & 14 Nov 1849 she returns with Arthur, aged 14. Jane left 9 Aug 1850, Arthur on 1 Feb 1850.
