shipping: house servant, reads; her sister Sarah also on board; empl. by Catherine Roache, Bourke St., Melbourne £6, 2 years; married labourer, Michael Murphy, in Melbourne 2 Jan 1850; lived Collingwood, Taradale & Ararat; 11 children (only 3 survived to adulthood, 4 children burnt to death in a shepherd's hut at Gledfield Station, Ross Bridge in 1863 & buried on a rise overlooking the bank of the Hopkins River). Catherine died 20 Nov 1899; buried Kerang; a devout Catholic, she said she had suffered her purgatory on earth & would surely go straight to heaven; her husband, a Beijeroop farmer, left an estate of £225 in 1882.
