Born c.1833. From Kanturk workhouse. Married 23 yr old Peter Burns, carpenter, (Newry Co Down) in St Mary's Church, Morphett Vale 1853, 10 children, first two in Adelaide, next 8 in the Western Districts of Victoria. The couple eventually settled in their homestead "The Warrions" overlooking Lake Corangmite. Peter died 1893, Johanna at Euroa 1897. Her sister Ellen was another Famine orphan who came by the 'Maria'. We do not know if the sisters knew of each other's presence in Australia. A plaque was recently placed on Johanna's unmarked grave in Euroa.
