Committee News

11/10/2020

The Committee has continued to meet regularly via Zoom since our last face-to-face meeting back in February.

There have been some changes to Committee member roles since the election of the 2020 Committee last November. Perry McIntyre announced her resignation in February followed by Richard Reid. Suddenly our numbers were reduced from 8 to 6. We are very grateful that Dawn Wong stepped up to fill a ‘Casual Vacancy’ and also took over the role of Secretary.

Midway through the year, a new recruit materialised in the form of descendent Janine Heinemann who is based in Brisbane; Janine had recently discovered her orphan girl connection and enthusiastically offered to become involved; she became a Member and subsequently joined the Committee thereby filling yet another ‘Casual Vacancy’. Janine has already contributed considerably at our meetings and has put her hand up to edit this newsletter; you can read her own story published herewith.

Janine is “living proof” that the GIFCC represents all the Earl Grey Orphans and all descendants, no matter where they live.

We welcome anyone anywhere to become a Member and consider joining the Committee.
